A Winter Look with Videri Chocolate

Winter in North Carolina is weird. One day it's 65 and sunny, then it's 42 and rainy, then it's a nice 58 and overcast. With such fickle weather it's great to start adding transitional pieces into your wardrobe.

We stopped by Videri Chocolate Factory in Downtown Raleigh to grab some delicious mocha's, sample chocolates, and find a little bit of tranquility in the warehouse district. If you're ever in Raleigh we highly suggest stopping by.

Since Joanna is in grad school her pieces have to work for the weather outside but also for her office and classroom at NC State.

Her black H&M sweater with classic white stripes gives this sweater an academic feel. The horizon necklace from Windblown gives this outfit a little burst of sophistication and romanticism.

Her loafers are of course a clearance find at Madewell and a great transition piece from fall to winter and even spring. Paired with her high-waisted Levi jeans this simple look works for a myriad of places.

Thanksgiving Day Outfit:

I tried to tap into the fall jewel tones for this one and accented it with the rich almond leather. For those of us preparing the thanksgiving meal, I had to pick a comfy shoe. I went with my number one go-to, Lucky Brand’s leather bootie. The heel isn’t too high, it offers the support I need and it’s classic.

Keeping with the comfy cute look, I picked Lauren Conrad’s formal wear leggings in the cranberry because why not wear what you’ll eat? (which are on sale RIGHT NOW)  Like I said I was sticking with the jewel tones so Madewell’s mustard knit sweater vest was the perfect contrast. I also love the texture it brought to the outfit.

For the under blouse I admittedly paired it with a navy polka-dotted button up I got at a thrift store. If you don’t want to go bold with three colors, you could always go classic white for the under shirt, but I’d say it definitely needs a good color to accentuate that sweater vest.

For my final accessories I finished with Windblown statement warrior necklace and some vintage mustard bangles.

I tossed my Madewell leather tote that just so happens to match my booties perfectly and waltzed into the thanksgiving madness.
